Leaves and Pages

Hi! Lately, I've been reading a few good books that I'd like to review a bit, here.

So, first, we have The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho....and I'm sure that just from he symbol you can tell what book is behind? Darn straight, it's Divergent, by Veronica Roth!

Divergent: At first, the majority of the novel describes Tris, the main character training to become a member of the Dauntless class in society, a daring and rough group...Tris came from Abnegation, a group devoted to selflessness and a plain lifestyle. I understand that the descriptions might be necessary, but I feel that this portion(all the training talk) goes on for too long, and considering hat the style of writing is rather sparse (just my opinion), I was itching for some real drama! However, near the end, sort of, it got intense! I found the principles of this societies government to be really interesting...i don't feel that it was really dystopia, as I
thought it'd be, but more like a slightly flawed
government/society that started on good values...and there were definitely issues, like there are today...on respect, the poor, striving for individuality, etc. So, I found that interesting. I also loved the romance between Tris and Four...it was so cute! Aaaannnd, of course, Tris was a really tough girl~ All in all, I liked divergent, and will be getting Insurgent soon!

The Alchemist: I saw this book in Barnes and Nobles and it looked really interesting...I found the whole Alchemy idea interesting, and it seemed to be an adventure story. Now, the flow book reads in a very mellow and elegant way, which makes it a great read for a relaxing summer day with a cup of tea~ It's about a Shepard boy, content withy his life, who suddenly receives a dream about finding a treasure near the pyramids, far from his home in Andalusia. This dream, is his Personal Legend, his goal in life. He meets a number of mysterious characters along he way as he journeys on with
faith that the universe guides those who seek their Personal Legend. This wise boy finds an unexpected, yet familiar
treasure at the end, and learns of the connections in the world, through a 200 year old....Alchemist. The story reads like a fable, but is relatable to anyone's life (at least I think so), and full of quote able lines. Paulo Coelho has written such an inspiring story in this book!

So, I hope you'll be interested to read these books if you haven't yet and form your own opinion!

Now that we've talked about the "pages" part of his post, let's talk about "leaves"! Here are photos from a recent, summery park visit.

Submarine and Random Shenanigans

So, I watched the British 2010 movie Submarine, directed by Richard Ayode....finally, after hearing so many good reviews, I rented off Amazon.

loooook at this design, wow, amaze...I'm sounding like the doge meme, now

"At once a self-styled social scientist, a spy in the baffling adult world, and a budding, hormone-driven emotional explorer, Oliver Tate is stealthily nosing his way forward through the murky and uniquely perilous waters of adolescence. His objectives? Uncovering the secrets behind his parents’ teetering marriage, unraveling the mystery that is his alluring and equally quirky classmate Jordana Bevan, and understanding where he fits in among the mystifying beings in his orbit. Struggling to buoy his parents’ wedded bliss, deep-six his own virginity, and sound the depths of heartache, happiness, and the business of being human, what’s a lad to do? Poised precariously on the cusp of innocence and experience, Oliver Tate aims to damn the torpedoes and take the plunge."
- an Amazon review (couldn't have said it better)

Basically, I really recommend it...it's really relatable, with Oliver trying to find "his thing" and going through various phases and such, and has really nice scenery(though at one
point, Oliver says he doesn't quite believe in scenery...). I'm
sorry that I keep starting posts by mentioning a movie, but as it's SUMMER, watching movies has been a main pastime.

In other news, I was too lazy to take a real outfit shot, so I took...selfies....

Blehhhhb...oh, and whaddya know, I'm not wearing a hairbun( signature style)

shirt- Forever 21
Pants-Old Navy
Hairbow- again, f21

Also, I've been reading...as usual. I finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower a while ago, which was perfect...you should really read it if you haven't...it's not only about teenagers, but life, and love, and all of that. Another book I
juuust finished was "Every Day" by David Leviathan. It has a really unique concept!

The book and a tiramisu cheesecake...

Otherwise, yesterday I just went out to eat and such, and
skyped a friend...nothing exciting....but if ya want, you can check out her tumblr blog....http://soliecoco.tumblr.com...she posts primarily about anime and cosplay, and it's a really cute blog~

Guys, guys...hey...look....

Is this a cute tissue box or what? Sorry, that was weird, but
the design seems kinda Scandinavian! It's just Kleenex, but I read the box, and Isaac Mizrahi, who is a designer, made the pattern....designer tissue boxes at your drugstore :p
hehe, that was random!

Well, have a nice day, be a good person(what am I saying...), whatever, bleh...

Moving, Visual, Audial, Inspiration

I've been watching movies/films...whatever you'd like to call them. I guess I'll summarize in a few sentences the most recent one I've seen.

Frances Ha

Watched via Netflix. A simple and comfortable movie with awkward charm. The black and white may or may not have been necessary. About living life as best as you can.
I enjoy the fact that the story really embraces platonic love. Sometimes you get tired of love songs, love stories, and l'amour in the air.
Frances speaks in a really honest and erratic way that's awkwardly enough, sort of poetic.

I know that not everyone enjoyed the movie, and I can see how the pacing could be a little iffy, but to me, it really deserved at least four stars. I like Frances. She dances in the streets and doesn't forget to keep believing in change for her
own sake.

I've also been reading BOOKS,per usual, in addition to movies.
Cupcakes and Perks

I'm currently reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
I saw the movie, which I quite liked, so I went to the library for the book, as I'd seen some great quotes lying around on Pinterest and tumblr! which I admit! I frequent periodically!

Cuuuuuuppcakee....Cookies n cream!
Food is totally inspiring. I said it once, I'll say it again.
